Cách tạo font chữ Nôm

If you're using Office XP or 2003, you can create your own font for Nom characters.

In this exercise, let's say we want to put the word 口 and 省 together to form [口省].

1. From Windows, go to Start -> Run.

2. Type in "eudcedit", and click "OK" This invokes your Private Character Editor. Click OK.

3. Edit --> Copy Character.

4. Click on the Font button, and choose the font you like, for example, Arial MS Unicode.

5. Type the Unicode number for the first character (7701) into the Code window/square. Hit OK. The character will be inserted into the edit window.

Note: One easy way to find the Unicode number of a character:

a) Use any typing/IME tool to insert 口 and 省 into MS Word.

b) Put the cursor to the right of 口. Hit ALT + X --> this gives Unicode number 53E3.

Put the cursor to the right of 省. Hit ALT + X --> this gives Unicode number 7701.

6. Use the Rectangular Selection tool, resize the character to leave space for the second character.

7. Repeat step 8 and 9 for the second character (53e3).

8. Now you should have 2 windows, 省 and 口 . Use the selection tool again and copy 口 from the reference windows to the edit window, to the left of 省 . Resize to a proper size, a bit of editing, then save the character, in any location, from E000 to F8F0.

9. Save the font to c:\Windows\Font\.

You now have a Nôm font to use on your machine.
